First Presbyterian Church of Alameda installed 150 panels on their Church Buildings
Alameda’s First Presbyterian Church has added a solar power system to generate 95% of the power used by the entire facility.
Solar Emphasizes Responsibility to Planet
“The congregation is delighted we have gone and taken this step,” Buckley said. “Our theology is that this world is God’s good creation and it’s our responsibility to take care of that.”
Cunningham, a project manager who specializes in construction of medical facilities, started the solar effort in April and it was completed in late July. Cunningham said Solar City, the company that installed the panels, believes the church is the first in the East Bay to outfit itself with solar.
The church spent nothing for the 150 panels installed on the office and fellowship hall buildings, Cunningham said. The panels are generating 95 percent of the power used by the whole facility.”
